Yelena Isinbayeva new indoor record

Russian pole vault Olympic champion, Yelena Isinbayeva, broke her own indoor pole vault record at the XL-Galan Indoor athletics meeting, in Stockholm, Sweden on February 23, 2012. The 29-year-old, who also holds the outdoor pole vault world record of 5.06 meters, cleared 5.01 meters to break the indoor world record. Ever since Yelena lost in pole vault for the first time in six years at the London Grand Prix she was plagued by poor form and was suffering from a foot injury. In the interview Isinbayeva said: "This was the real comeback. I said to myself, 'This is my night, I have to do my best', and my body answered, 'Yes we can, we can do it together. I just jumped. I just enjoyed the competition. I just felt confident. I didn't have any pain, any injury, the body is completely healthy, and the mind had good feelings inside. No pressure at all on me."

Asked if she could continue to go higher, Yelena Isinbayeva said: "Yes, yes of course. Otherwise I wouldn't continue to train. 5.01 is pretty high but once I'm on the track I don't feel it's that high. Sometimes I see this height like it was 4.15 and tonight (it felt like) the bar was much lower than usual for me." Let the competition at the 2012 London Olympics sit up and take notice, the Russian champ is back!
