Tennis babes rankings

Women's tennis rankings have changed after third-seeded Australian Samantha Stosur captured her first WTA singles title, at Osaka, defeating fourth-seeded Francesca Schiavone on Sunday in the finals of the HP Japan Women's Open. Stosur took the 7-5, 6-1 win over the Italian Schiavone, and captured her first singles title, and prize money of $37,000. Stosur is a mainstay on the doubles circuit, having taken 22 titles, but hadn't won a WTA event until Sunday. "I'm very, very pleased to win my first title after losing five previous finals," Stosur said. "It has been a personal goal for a while, so I am glad to have achieved that and it's the perfect way to finish my year in singles. My next goal is to reach the Top 10 for which I would need to play like today every day."

With this win Samantha has reached no. 13, inching past tennis babes Ana Ivanovic and Maria Sharapova. Serena Williams of the United States is number one in the top 10 rankings issued on Monday by the WTA, while sister Venus Williams is at number four. Former number one Dinara Safina and Svetlana Kuznetsova follow in second and third spots, while the other Russian girls Elena Dementieva and Vera Zvonareva are at five and seven. Caroline Wozniacki, Victoria Azarenka, Jelena Jankovic, and Agnieszka Radwanska are the tennis babes at six, eight, nine, and ten respectively.
