Yelena Isinbayeva, lost for the first time in six years. Anna Rogowska of Poland beat Isinbayeva. Isinbayeva entered the competition at 15 feet, 4 1/4 inches, but cleared it only on her final attempt. The Russian failed three times at 15-8 1/4. A dejected and shocked Yelena said, "I'm a little disappointed, it's unusual for me as I don't know how to come second."
SFGateMeanwhile five Jamaican track and field athletes have tested positive for doping. Although a newspaper reported none of the nation's premier sprinters is among the group, all the athletes were to be on the nation's team for next month's World Championships.
