Nastia Liukin best female athlete 2009

Gymnast Nastia Liukin won the 2009 ESPY award for the Best Female Athlete. The award show was held this Wednesday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on ESPN on Sunday.

Best male athlete was Michael Phelps, who won three other ESPYs for best performance, record breaking performance, best moment in the Olympic relay win. The best game went to Super Bowl 43 and best upset to the US win against Spain in the FIFA Confederations Cup semi-finals. Best team were the LA Lakers.

Usain Bolt of Jamaica was the best male international athelte, while Lorena Ochoa Mexico took the female award. Albert Pujols was the best baseball player, Larry Fitzgerald the best NFL, and LeBron James the best NBA player
