Roger Federer of Switzerland finally completes a career Grand Slam by winning the French Open men's final against 23rd-seeded Robin Soderling of Sweden. Soderling challenged Federer in the second set but the Swiss came through with quality tennis, showing no desperation or emotion till after matchpoint, winning 6-1, 7-6 (7/1), 6-4. With this win Roger Federer equals Pete Sampras' record 14 grand slam titles, and fittingly he received the French Open trophy from the last player to win a Grand Slam, Andre Agassi (photo: Reuters):

Agassi's wife Steffi Graf had presented the
French Open girl's trophy the previous day. While Agassi was always backing Roger to win, Pete Sampras, having watched Federer on television equal his record of 14 Grand Slams, declared: "I think this just further solidifies his place in history as the greatest player that played the game."
