Women’s World Tour surfing

Silvana Lima became the first Brazilian to win Australian surfing's most famous event, the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach on Sunday. An ecstatic Lima said, "This is the first world tour event I've ever won, and to win it at Bells Beach is like a dream. To be the first winner from Brazil to ring the bell, it's amazing. I hope everyone in Brazil stays up and parties big." Silvana also stopped Australia's Stephanie Gilmore record quest of becoming the first in women's surfing to win this event three successive times.

Surfer babe Stephanie Gilmore though retained her number one ranking in the ASP Women’s World Tour with 2172 points. Silvana Lima is ranked number two with 1560 points, while the third spot in the women's world tour is shared by New Zealand's Paige Hareb and Peru's Sofia Mulanovich with 1308 points each.
