Premier League round up

Manchester United beat rivals Chelsea 3-0 to inch closer to the top spot in the English Premier League. Once Nemanja Vidic opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time there was no looking back for The Red Devils. Goals after the interval from Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov capped a fine display by Sir Alex Ferguson's side. However a goal by Cristiano Ronaldo was disallowed....the Portuguese striker headed a Ryan Giggs cross from the Chelsea corner. The goal was disallowed because Wayne Rooney, who went to take the corner kick, casually tapped the ball and then jogged away as if leaving the kick to be taken by Ryan Giggs, who kicked it across the unprepared Chelsea defence. Officials ordered the corner kick to be retaken since Rooney had not informed the linesman of his intentions.

Newcastle drew 2-2 against West Ham. Carlton Cole of West Ham has gone from a goal-drought to one of the hottest Premier League strikers with four goals in his last four games. Newcastle striker Andy Carroll got his first Premier League goal to draw level and give his side a point.

Aston Villa beat West Brom 2-1. The winning goal was ironically a self-goal by West Brom keeper Scott Carson.....he fended Gabriel Agbonlahor's attempted shot into the back of his own net.

And finally Cristiano Ronaldo FIFA World Player of the Year.....it seems likely that he will get that award on Monday for his scintillating form and 42-goals that helped Manchester United win the Premier League and Champions League last May.
