Liverpool draw

The Reds looked destined to return to the top of the Barclays Premier League through Steven Gerrard's feat, captaining Liverpool for the 250th time, but Everton's Tim Cahill's scored an equaliser with three minutes left in the game. With this draw Liverpool drew level with Man U in total points in the Barclay's Premier League table, but are behind them in goal-difference.

"It could be better, but we have to look at the positives. We are level on points at the top with Man Utd and it's January. We are also through in the Champions League and the (FA) Cup," Rafael Benitez, the Liverpool manager.

Liverpool have now drawn six of their last nine league games, with home games proving to be a big problem for them this season – tonight’s draw being their fifth at Anfield in eleven matches at home in the league.

Kaka stays with AC Milan

Meanwhile Brazilian Kaka has rejected the Manchester City offer and stays with AC Milan. "Manchester City has terminated its discussions with AC Milan over the possible transfer of the player Kaka," said a statement. Italian fans, including the country's prime minister Silvio Berlusconi (also the club's owner), rejoiced at the news.
