Catriona Matthew

Five months pregnant Catriona Matthew (photo: Dave Martin/AFP) shot a 3-under 69 to win the inaugural HSBC LPGA Brazil Cup on Sunday. The 39-year old from Scotland, who is carrying her second child, said, "When you play well you don't feel tired. Maybe tomorrow I will feel it a bit."

American Kristy McPherson wassecond with four birdies and four bogeys in her round. Brazilian Angela Park finished third to the disappointment of her home fans at the Itanhanga Golf Club. Catriona Matthew takes home $500,000 in prize money.

Qatar Masters


In other golfing news Alvaro Quirós of Spain has won the Qatar Masters at the Doha Golf Course. "Winning is not easy," Quirós said. "It is easy for guys like Sergio García and others who win so often. So, definitely it is a big surprise for me to win here."

The 26-year-old Alvaro, finished with a total score of 19-under and became the first Spaniard to win the Qatar Masters in the 12-year history of the tournament. Quirós earned £305,000 for his victory.
